Trio Ardor (Andrej Omejc- saxophone, Teja Udovič Kovačič- accordion, Blaž Pavlakovič- piano) brings together accordion, saxophone, and piano—a rare and exciting combination in the world of music. Inspired by the legendary collaboration between tango master Astor Piazzolla and jazz saxophonist Gerry Mulligan, Trio Ardor creates a sound that blends the passion of tango, the sophistication of classical music, and the freedom of jazz.
In the trio, alto saxophone and modern accordion take the spotlight, while piano connects the instruments and enriches the ensemble’s sound with European classical textures. Each instrument plays an equally vital role: the saxophone adds jazz and popular music energy, the accordion evokes authentic tango and folk traditions, and the piano bridges these worlds, creating a unique and captivating sonic palette.
The ensemble’s repertoire spans Piazzolla’s iconic works and his lesser-known collaborations with Mulligan, classical music inspired by folk traditions from around the globe, and their own original compositions. Trio Ardor’s music builds bridges between jazz, folk, and classical styles, exploring the full expressive potential of their instruments.
Known for their innovative programming, Trio Ardor has performed programmes such as Ex Oriente, From Folk Traditions, and the upcoming 2025–2026 project Around Bartók, exploring composers influenced by Béla Bartók’s integration of folk music into classical tradition.
Trio Ardor’s performances break down musical boundaries, presenting tango, waltz, and folk melodies from three continents in a fresh and authentic sound. Their concerts captivate audiences with energy, virtuosity, and originality.
Experience the vibrant world of Trio Ardor—where jazz, folk, tango, and classical music come together in a uniquely thrilling musical journey.
