Duo Omejc–Pavlakovič was founded in 2019 by two acclaimed Slovenian musicians: saxophonist Andrej Omejc and pianist and organist Blaž Pavlakovič. The duo has performed at numerous prominent concerts in Slovenia and abroad, earning recognition for innovative programmes featuring original compositions and imaginative arrangements for saxophone and piano or saxophone and organ.
Particular acclaim was received for a programme that seamlessly combined contemporary repertoire for saxophone and organ with newly crafted arrangements of works by Baroque masters.
Their latest project, America!, explores musical works inspired by the idea of the promised land across the Atlantic—a symbol of freedom, opportunity, and boundless possibility. While the myth itself proved elusive, it gave rise to a rich and diverse musical legacy. The programme brings together vivid musical portrayals of New York and the Appalachian Mountains by Roberto Molinelli and Matthew Jackfert, genre-crossing masterpieces such as Bernstein’s West Side Story and Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, iconic film music by Ennio Morricone, and other works closely associated with the United States.
Through their performances, Duo Omejc–Pavlakovič invites audiences on a sonic journey through bustling metropolises, sweeping national parks, and the legendary landscapes of the Wild West—classical music infused with jazz, Latin rhythms, bluegrass, and more.
