Andrej Omejc (saxophone) and Teja Udovič Kovačič (accordion) have been collaborating as a duo since 2019. Their musical partnership began at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, where they studied under the guidance of Prof. Luka Juhart. Since then, they have performed at numerous festivals and concert series in Slovenia and abroad, including the Malinska Music Festival, Glasbena mladina Ljubljanska, Poletje v Celju, and others. The duo also recorded a television program titled Young Virtuosos for Slovenian National Television.
Their repertoire spans a wide range of original works written specifically for the combination of their instruments, as well as carefully crafted arrangements. Their programs extend from works by Baroque masters through the music of Edvard Grieg and Maurice Ravel to compositions by Astor Piazzolla, Witold Lutosławski, and contemporary composers. As such, their concerts encompass multiple musical periods, with particular emphasis on classical works influenced by folk traditions from various cultures.
The duo’s artistic approach is grounded in a search for authenticity across musical genres and a continual exploration of new sonic landscapes made possible by their distinctive and unconventional instrumental combination.
